The Jozani Forest Reserve
Located in the central east region of Zanzibar Island, Jozani is home to the rare red colobus monkey endemic to Zanzibar. The Reserve also accommodates a large mangrove swamp and a tract of natural forest that is home to unique species of sykes monkey, bush babies, duikers, hyraxes, over 50 species of butterfly and 40 species of birds.

The Ngezi Forest Reserve
Located in Southern Pemba, this equatorial forest reserve contains rare trees endemic to Tanzania alone. Wildlife includes indigenous flying foxes, blue duikers and several varieties of owl.

The Kiwengwa/Pongwe Forest Reserve
Located in the north east coast of Unguja, just a walking distance from the beaches, the reserve provides an excellent stop to visitors. High biodiversity and rare species of mangrove make it an ideal destination for botanists and forest tourists

The Kidike Root Site
Located in central region of Pemba just a few kilometers from Chake Chake, Kidike hosts the endangered Pemba flying fox, the largest species of bat worldwide that is found only on the Island. The Kidike Root Site is also the natural habitat for the vervet monkeys, mozambique cobras, tortoises, bush crabs, red eyed doves and mangrove king fishers.

The Zala Park
A small nature reserve and field study centre seats under the shade of a variety of trees, including orange, lime and grapefruit, nutmeg and banana, ginger, chillies, black pepper and cinnamon. Several animals are displayed in captivity including tree hyraxes, a variety of reptiles including green tree snakes, mambas and some big pythons. Chameleons, geckos, tortoises, striped lizards and monitor lizards are included amongst the legged reptiles. The Park is approximately 5km south of Jozani Reserve.
